What is ANRT Type Approval in Morocco, and Why Does Your Product Need It?

In Morocco the Agence Nationale de Réglementation des Télécommunications (ANRT), a regulating authority ensures safety with ICT equipment used in Morocco along with providing quality assurance. This is why they have provided specific Type Approval regulations for radio and telecommunication equipment in order to effectively interoperate and remain safe.
The focus of these regulations is into ability of ICT devices to interwork and interconnected using any communications networks as well as protecting public telecommunications network or public health against damage. They also plan to pre-register ICT equipment and perform quality assurance while mapping the appropriate technical standards.
Simplifying the ANRT Type Approval Process
In Morocco, ANRT Type Approval is to be obtained against a wide range of application that includes technical documentation with product descriptions, user manuals, schematics and test reports from internationally accredited laboratories. It is required to have a Manufacturer’s Declaration of Conformity in Arabic or French attesting the compliance with Moroccan standards. Furthermore, products must be correctly identified with the CMIM mark, and this mark must appear clearly on the product or its packaging. International applicants must submit proof of payment with their application. ANRT has removed the need of product samples, which some regulatory authorities require prior to permitting submissions, thereby streamlining the approval process.
Exempted Items from Morocco ANRT Type Approval

The list of exception equipment category from obtaining ANRT Type Approval in Morocco are;
- CPE without RF cards: This means CPE gear such as a switch or server without embedded RF capabilities.
- Non-Transmitting Equipment: Equipment that only receives signals, for example certain radio receivers or broadcast-only equipment, do not require approval;
Without this capability to transmit using RF, the regulatory burden on such devices is greatly reduced, and these exemptions are based upon.
ANRT Type Approval Validity and Renewal Requirements
The validity of ANRT Type Approval in Morocco is 10 years from the time it was issued. At the end of this period, it is necessary to renew the approval, even if no modifications have been made in relation to the apparatus. During this period it is critical for applicants to stay updated with the latest standards. Also, any major changes in hardware or software in the product must be also re-approved in order to comply with ANRT regulations during the period of validity.

Latest Updates in ANRT Type Approval Regulations
The Morocco ANRT Type Approval is now updated to give a green light for Wi-Fi 6E technology on the worldwide 5925-6425 MHzfrequency band. EIRP limit is 200mW (indoor use only, no vehicle / rolling stock use) This spectrum can also be used by portable devices such as smartphones, but with a lower EIRP of 25mW, and is approved for indoor and outdoor use (with the exception of unmanned aerial vehicles).
Annex 11 also enlarges the frequency range 24.00-24.25 GHz for radar and motion detection devices with a 100mW EIRP as well. For example, this range is for applications where obstacle detection and motion sensing is extremely critical due to safety and surveillance reasons.
