Kuwait Plans Stricter Safety Rules for TVs, Laptops and Other Electronics
10 October 2026

Kuwait wants to raise the safety bar for electronic products sold in the country. In a recent notice to the WTO, it shared plans to adopt GSO IEC 62368-1:2024. This is the newest edition of the standard that sets safety rules for audio, video and IT equipment, from TVs and speakers to laptops, routers and chargers.

According to the notice, the main goal is to keep users safe from risks such as electric shock, fire and overheating.

The proposal is still open for feedback. Manufacturers, importers and other interested companies have until 6 December 2026 to send their comments.

What this means for you

If your products are already tested to an older edition of IEC 62368-1, your reports may need updating once the new rules come in. Checking this now gives you time to plan, and it helps you avoid shipments getting stuck later.
