Algeria — ANF/ARPCE Type Approval & Certification
ANF and ARPCE regulate telecom and radio equipment in Algeria under a CE-recognition model, with 5-year certificate validity and mandatory local representation.
Algeria Type Approval — What You Need to Know
Telecom and radio frequency equipment in Algeria is regulated by two separate bodies: the Agence Nationale des Fréquences (ANF) and the Autorité de Régulation de la Poste et des Communications Électroniques (ARPCE). Although they work under the same national framework, each one has its own scope.
ANF mainly deals with spectrum management and handles approvals for things like automotive systems, Zigbee-based devices, and wireless headphones. ARPCE, on the other hand, is the telecom regulator — it covers equipment that connects to public communication networks, such as mobile phones, Wi-Fi devices, and other ICT/RTTE products. ARPCE is also the main body that actually issues the type approval certificates for this equipment.
Algeria runs on a CE-recognition system, meaning ANF/ARPCE mostly rely on existing international test reports (EU CE reports being the most common) rather then requiring fresh in-country testing from scratch. That said, a local representative is still mandatory to file the application — our team on the ground in Algeria can take care of that part.
Following the decree revision from March 2026, a single certificate can now be used by more then one importer, which wasn't allowed before.
Once granted, the certificate stays valid for 5 years as long as the device isn't technically modified. Processing usually takes around 10 weeks.
Our Algeria Certification Services Include:
- Assessing your product and determining the correct regulatory pathway
- Managing the full type approval process — including all communication with regulators and payments
- Guidance on proper compliance marking, plus continued support if equipment is later modified
- Support with sample handling, in-country testing coordination, and mandatory in-country representation
- Ongoing help with renewals, modifications, or updates to certificates already approved
Quick Summary
- Regulators: ANF (anf.dz) and ARPCE (arpce.dz)
- Certification type: Algeria ANF/ARPCE Type Approval
- Documents needed: Technical documentation (user manual, datasheet), Declaration of Conformity, and RF/EMC/health & safety test reports per applicable standards
- Samples: 1 commercial (as-sold) unit
- Validity: 5 years
- Local rep: Mandatory
- Labeling: Required
- Timeline: 10–12 weeks
- Accepted standards: European ETSI standards
What's exempt?
Devices with no RF functionality that don't connect to public networks — wired Ethernet switches, non-radio fiber-optic gear, industrial network cards, and similar hardware — generally don't need approval. Still, it's a good idea to get a Non-Submission to Homologation (exemption) certificate anyway, just to avoid problems when the shipment hits customs.

FAQs
Algeria — ANF/ARPCE Type Approval questions
It's a mandatory certification that telecom and radio equipment must have before it can be imported, sold, or used inside Algeria. It confirms the device complies with local technical, spectrum, and safety rules. ANF covers RF/spectrum-related devices (automotive RF, Zigbee, Bluetooth/wireless headphones), while ARPCE handles equipment tied to public networks (mobile phones, Wi-Fi, ICT/RTTE gear).
